I N F E R N O

Inspired by Hoi Mun's "smoked soul" artwork: [link] After inhaling the ghostly fumes, I realized that the same technique could apply just as well to bright flames against a dark background... hence this little experiment.

As the demon took shape, I decided it would be cool to add some text from Dante's Inferno. Went with the classic opening of Canto III (in Italian). Translation:

"Through me the way into the woeful city;
Through me the way to the eternal pain;
Through me the way among the lost people.
Justice moved my maker on high;
Divine power made me
and supreme wisdom and primal love;
Before me nothing was created but eternal things
and I endure eternally.
Abandon every hope, ye that enter!"

Note: the lowest level of Dante's hell is actually frozen in ice. Ironic, eh?
