Have you heard about my contest. The theme is 'the future' I feel this would make a great entry. or if you have more up your sleeve. the deadline is july 1st. There's loads of prizes. [link] Submission is 5 pieces.
Thanks very much, Amy, for the compliment and the invite. Work is already done, so why not submit, right? Would feel bad if I took prizes from anyone who did work specifically for the contest, tho... Well... anyway, at your suggestion I submitted a few to the Judgment-Day 'future' contest folder. Cheers!
I REALLY like the design! The optic unit next to the main gun is a nice touch. It not only looks powerful, but, it looks FAST! The ball joints on the feet look very practical, especially for a desert machine. Very nicely done!
There will probably be a third also in twilight, but more terran atmosphere. After that, I run out of logos. Also my shame reaches a critical mass for endlessly milking the same project! But who knows... if people still want to see it, I may do more.
-just thought about trying the arctic version w/ Northern lights in the sky.... maybe best save that for another mech.
This is awesome, Rob...The darker tones combined with the twilight sky give me a sense of impending nighttime operations. I love the texture on the sand and the blowing dust, as well. Is it just me or did you amp up that deodesic grid a bit to "energize" it a bit?
Weird coincidental timing going on here, I just posted a new Mars mech a few minutes ago...I guess we were both on a Flea War vibe tonight!
Yep, I used your suggestion and tweaked the orbital hex-grid to give more of an energy dome/shield impression. Tho there's still the possibility that it's all an AI simulation... Had some positive response on the Desert Biped via added exposure on the new Mecha Group gallery, so it seemed high time to try this alternate color comp -that was always intended.
I gotta check out yer mars-mech now... Uncanny timing indeed.
