Sicilian stroll by Rob-Cavanna Sicilian stroll by Rob-Cavanna
pyew pyew pyew!

Another fine piece of work done for Operation: Dragon Slayer by :iconflaketom:

Stuart Biped mech was modeled by Thomas in Sketchup and rendered w/ V-Ray.

Minor design comments and final retouching done by meself in Photoshop.

You can see his original post here: [link]

Many more petrol-mech morsels en-route (tho I always say that, and months keeps zoomin' by!)

Cheers, my friends! :peace: :D

Gah, I never commented on this one either?! D : Looks really awesome, but then you know I've got a soft spot for the more exotic biped designs and these utilitarian camo schemes! Somehow the caltrops scattered around the scrubby plain just gives it an extra punch of plausibility for me...Also really digging the impression of phosphorus tracer rounds caught split-second in mid-stream. Beautiful work from Tom, as always!

Thomas' experimentation w/ V-Ray is certainly not going to hurt the ongoing OPDS collab!
The MG muzzle flash and tracer rounds were one of my few post-render additions.
My thought was that a touch of glow on the frontal armor would break up the monochrome body color and give more dimension to it.
A 5 minute edit, et voila... it's an 'action' pose. I need to start thinking more along these lines, pushing the presentation.
Especially if Thomas is upping his game like this!

Love it! You guys come up with the best foot designs I've ever seen. They look totally like you could make a mechanical drawing of it and take it to a machine shop and have the thing fabricated. And it would work.

I love that kind of thinking the concept through on a game or a story, or even just a pic, because it makes it more real to me.

More real for me too. That's the beauty of it. :D Thomas has a magic way of making everything look very mechanically credible.

Fun fact: his footprint started off round.

Indeed he does work magic on these models. :)

And interesting! I think you guys made the right decision in making it square-ish. It suits the little mech's "styling." (if that makes any sense) I mean the only thing rounded is the turret. Everything else is squarish. So the pronged square footprint looks totally natural with this machine.

Thomas is also always very easy when it comes to revision and tweaking stuff. :thanks:

Me too! Very badly. But not yet...
This project is being dreamed up in the form of a tactical RPG. Personal work.

If you like WWII mechs... there is an old PS2 game called Ring of Red available on the PSN for like $10 or so. [link]

There's also some new XBox game coming soon (forget the name) w/ WWII flavored mechs (tho it's set in a future where some bacteria ate all the silicon in computers -hence the retro vibe).

That's cool! I may have to see if I can find a copy of Ring of Red and try and run it on my emulator.

The bare metallic legs bits are less realistic and more for aesthetics. Maybe not necessary, but adds a little more visual interest.

Been thinking about more action shots. The muzzle flash was a quick and easy step in that direction. Glad you dig it,Thomas! And thanks for the awesome model and render! The geography is just right. Could also fit w/ Northern Africa...

YOur're right about Northern Africa. Never thought about that one, I always placed it somewhere in Italy in my mind.

And the metall look is prettier!

So I assume the M in this M3 Stuart stands for Mechanized Walker. Very nice 3D render.
